This year’s May 17th celebration will take place at Tilles Park in St. Louis County, located at 9551 Litzsinger Rd, from Noon until 3pm (preparations starting at 10am). NSSL has reserved the beautiful Windegger pavilion and hopes to see as many people as possible.
Everyone is welcome, including Swedes!

Fun fact: One of the biggest May 17 parades outside Norway’s 5 biggest cities takes place in
Stockholm, Sweden. Considering the celebration is the independence from Sweden, it goes to
show the unique bond the Scandinavians share.
The most popular food on this day is hotdogs, either in a bun or in “lompe” (smaller lefse), during the main celebration in city centres. After that families and friends most often gather in each other’s yards and eat ice cream, vaffler and other desserts.

Anyone can show up at any time, but if you plan to attend, we would love to know already! Especially if you can bring a dish, and it is okay if it is not ice-cream, hot dogs, or cake (even though Norwegian children grow up thinking that’s the only 17 of May food)!
